07 Jul Cardinals Alumni and Arbella Independent serve up some grub to Colts Drum & Bugle Corps
We were fortunate to have the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps staying in our area, at Beverly High School, so we were able to go and watch them practice on the 5th.
Now, our Linda O’Connor is an experienced tour manager, and had an idea to bring the Colts some fresh strawberry shortcake.
If you know a corps is in town, be sure to go bring their tour manager a cup of coffee – they need it!
Now, you just can’t dump food off with a corps and expect them to prep it – they are feeding around 180 people at every meal – so a bunch of us worked with the Colt’s Kitchen staff to prep the dessert for that night’s dinner. On hand to help were Zoe Barham, Brian Ferris, Lauren, Joel, Linda and Linda’s granddaughter Katie, who’s birthday it also was!
Together, we worked to prep the food, as well as food for the next day.
We also got to serve the kids from the truck. It was fun watching the kids’ eyes when they saw the dessert – if you’ve ever been on tour, you will understand why!
SOMEHOW…. the kids got wind that it was Katie’s birthday, and then this happened:

Colts cymbal line sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Linda’s granddaughter Katie and embarrasses the crap out of her! I’d say she was one lucky girl, wouldn’t you?
Can you see the shade of red she was turning? She wouldn’t even look at them, it was pretty cute. Happy Birthday Katie!!

Only an experienced Tour Director would know just how well some fresh strawberry shortcake would go down.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Linda smile so much – she was IN HER ELEMENT!
THANK YOU LINDA for being so thoughtful and organizing this on behalf of the Cardinals Alumni Association and Arbella Independent. And good luck to the COLTS on the next leg of your tour!!
