Arbella Drum & Bugle Corps announces preliminary plans for 40th Anniversary Celebration in 2019!

Arbella Drum & Bugle Corps announces preliminary plans for 40th Anniversary Celebration in 2019!

Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends,

2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Arbella’s crowing achievement – winning the DCI All-Girl Championships in Birmingham Alabama in 1979.

Everyone in the drum corps community agrees, there was something extremely special about All-Girls Corps, especially Arbella.  With murmurs on social media over the last year about a reunion event for 2019 – the 40th anniversary of our DCI Championship Win – we thought we would organize something very special for all.

Following the success of the Cardinal’s 70th Anniversary Celebration and Tribute Corps, some Cardinals have offered to help us put together the Arbella 40th Anniversary Tribute Corps to play at our reunion event.  The Corps will be comprised of drum corps alumni from around the region (around the country I daresay) who are passionate about keeping alive the old school drum corps that we love so much and who want to help bring to life the music of the All-Girl years of Arbella.

The Arbella Tribute Corps will play at the 40th Reunion Celebration that alumni are starting to put together.  Sue LeFrancois Puleo will be helping to head up the Reunion efforts and she already has some fun ideas up her sleeve!

Some very special things are already coming together:

  • 25 people have already expressed interest in playing!
  • George D’Iorio (1976-1979) has agreed to head up the horn line and is getting the brass charts ready, and has offered to run sectionals for anyone who hasn’t played since they marched (you CAN get it back!!)
  • Joe Nuccio (Brass Instructor 1980) has also agreed to help with the horn line!
  • a very SPECIAL ALL-GIRL MINI CORPS – made up of girls from the all-girl era – is planned!

and that’s just the START!

More details will be unveiled as they start to take shape.

We want YOU to take part in this historic event!

Getting excited?  We are too!
